For most racegoers, the MRT is the most practical way to reach the circuit area.

The Marina Bay Street Circuit requires extensive road closures and traffic diversions around downtown Singapore.

Taxis and ride-hailing services still operate elsewhere in Singapore, but close to the Circuit Park you may encounter road closures, restricted pickup and drop-off locations, longer driving routes, heavy demand and longer waits.

Your best MRT station depends on your entrance gate and ticket zone. Check the circuit map before leaving your hotel rather than simply entering “Marina Bay” into your navigation app.

Allow More Time Than Google Maps Suggests

One mistake first-time visitors make is calculating race-day travel using normal Singapore conditions.

Grand Prix weekend is not normal.

Allow additional time for:

• Crowds
• Road diversions
• Finding your grandstand
• Moving between entertainment zones
• Leaving the Circuit Park after major sessions

Should You Fly Home Immediately After Sunday’s Race?

I wouldn’t recommend cutting it too close.

The Grand Prix is scheduled to start at 8:00pm on Sunday. After the race, you still need to leave your grandstand, walk through the Circuit Park, reach public transport or a suitable pickup point, travel to Changi Airport and complete your airline’s departure procedures.

A flight shortly after midnight might appear feasible when you look only at the distance between Marina Bay and Changi Airport, but race-night crowds introduce unnecessary risk.

If your schedule allows it, staying Sunday night and flying Monday is considerably less stressful.

Where Should You Stay For The Singapore Grand Prix?

Stay Around Marina Bay Or City Hall

The obvious advantage is convenience. Depending on your hotel and circuit entrance, you may be able to walk to the event.

The trade-off is typically price and availability during Grand Prix weekend.

Stay Near A Convenient MRT Line

For many visitors, this can be the better-value strategy.

Areas worth considering include Bugis, Chinatown, Tanjong Pagar, Little India, Orchard and Lavender.

Rather than choosing your hotel purely by its distance from Marina Bay, look at the actual MRT journey to your circuit entrance.

What Should You Do In Singapore Before The F1 Starts?

One advantage of the Singapore Grand Prix is that much of the headline Formula 1 action takes place later in the day.
